Kanye West Reportedly In The Studio Working On New Album
Kanye West collaborator A-Trak has hinted at the rapper's studio return for a fifth solo project and said Ye would be stepping away from the media spotlight for the time being.
While details are still scarce, West reportedly has multiple ideas for song concepts.
The 'Love Lockdown' rapper, who recently pulled out of a co-headlining 'Fame Kills' tour with Lady GaGa, is said to be eager to start on the follow-up to 2008's 808s & Heartbreak. "Kanye's taking a bit of time away from the limelight. But he keeps telling me all these ideas he has for songs and fashion bits," recent collaborator A-Trak told the Daily Star. "It's really amazing just how many ideas he has." (Digital Spy)
Singer Mr. Hudson recently said Ye has been staying low-profile to craft his records.
"I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he was keeping a low profile, which is sensible." Hudson wrote as a guest columnist for newspaper the Daily Star. "He's been working so hard, touring, producing stuff for Jay-Z and Rihanna while also doing shoots for Louis Vuitton. And Kanye's getting back into rapping. He might make an old-school record on a tape deck, like the Beastie Boys used to do. Just a drum machine, ghetto blaster and a microphone." (Angry Ape)
Last June, Yeezy promised an upcoming album and revealed his ability to go paperless with lyrics.
"I'm always working, just talking to people like I've already got some lines that might make it to the album just from having a conversation," Ye said in an interview. "I haven't written down lyrics in like six years, but as far as rapping goes though, uh, how do we word this? [Michael] Jordan, Michael Jackson of it, that's what I do. It's time for me to bust another rap album... I kill that rap sh*t, that's what I do. I'm working on stuff, lyrics right now and they're awes-mazing, they're basically untouchable and I'm about to take it to a whole 'nother level and I would be scared if I was not me." (MTV)
The rapper has reportedly teamed with Soulja Boy Tell Em for his currently untitled project.
"He been f*ckin' with me like when I had that little situation with Ice-T, he reached out and was like, 'What the f*ck! Leave Soulja Boy alone,'" Soulja Boy explained in an interview. "I ain't never really get a chance to thank him for that...so he just reached out to me. We got in the studio, chopped it up and it was like history. Kanye, that n*gga great. He one of the greatest to do it. I produced some tracks [for him]. We got in the studio like two weeks ago." (XXL Mag)
No further details on Kanye West's new album have been revealed as of now.
