Game, N.O.R.E., Skillz and more have shared their reactions to yesterday's reports of Gucci Mane being sent to prison for reportedly violating his probation.
Game, who collaborated with Gucci on "Krazy" for his R.E.D. Album, described his frustration to the news.
"Gucci Mane gets a year in jail........," he wrote Thursday (November 12). "D*mn, all the homies gettin locked the F#$% up...... now that's 'Krazy' We gotta be a lil smarter in 2010 & stop givin these pigs (not a racist comment) reasons to kill our shine. At least my n*gga Shyne out." (Game's Twitter)
N.O.R.E. reflected on the numerous rappers already behind bars.
"More rappers getting locked up makes me wish I wAs a blogger cause they def don't go to jail!!!," he wrote. "Atlantic records TI locked up B.g. Got locked up 2 Lil boosie locked up Gucci Locked up Something weird here!!!!" (N.O.R.E.'s Twitter)
Skillz took a more critical and speculation-based approach with his reaction.
"I cant 4 d life of me figure out how these fools think they above the law," he explained. "Then get sentimental when them bars close. classic..i dnt get it I mean...if u smoke crack...its a good chance u will bcome a crackhead. Dog? Its rainin outside..go out there& u'll prolly get WET! f*kker...Talking about Free Pookie?? Dawg?? Pookie knew WTF he was doing!!! Talking about Free Pookie?? Dawg?? Pookie knew WTF he was doing!!!" (Skillz's Twitter)
Radio personality Charlamagne Tha God was direct with his reflection.
"@mrdaveyd Gucci is not on a plantation," he reasoned. "Gucci is a reflection of his generation. That's who he is that's why people relate. @mrdaveyd If you gonna be upset, be upset @ society. Now Wayne I don't f*ck w/ him, cause that is not him he's selling to the youth. @mrdaveyd its and image created by the machine. I know a million dudes and chicks just like Gucci they just not rapping. @mrdaveyd I agree that's why Gucci and Wayne are going to jail. They've been hit w/ the reality of there lifestyle." (Charlamagne Tha God's Twitter)
Gucci was reportedly given his one-year sentence Thursday afternoon.
Gucci Mane has been sent back to Fulton County Jail in Atlanta for probation violation. Sources close to the Atlanta rapper say Gucci attended a court hearing earlier today to determine whether or not he'd have to serve time for an unspecified infraction that violated the conditions of his probation. He was sentenced to 12 months, but could end up serving only six with good behavior. This doesn't mark the first time Gucci violates his probation. The rapper was sent to the same jail for only completing 25 out of a required 600 hours of community service in relation to a prior assault charge. (BET)
