Kanye West has displayed his interest in Lil Wayne's upcoming The Carter documentary by placing its trailer and labeling the Young Money rapper as a true rock star on his popular blog.
Writing via his daily blog, Yeezy inked a brief mention of Wayne's new documentary.
"FEW WILL EVER LIVE THE LIFE OF A TRUE ROCK STAR," Ye wrote Sunday (November 8). "WAYNE IS ONE OF THE FEW." (Kanye West's Blog)
Weezy's film was previously delayed, however, it will now be released later this month.
QD3 Entertainment is finally going to release their film on rockstar rapper Lil Wayne to the public. They debuted it at this year's Sundance Film Festival and reports say the film was well received. After the debut, they met with some resistance from Wayne as he wasn't too happy about some of the footage found in the film. However, that has been cleared up and as a result the documentary is set to hit retailers on November 17, 2009. (Examiner)
According to Quincy Jones III, the film will also show Wayne's dedication to music around the release of his platinum-selling Tha Carter III in 2008.
"The main thing that the documentary shows -- I think a lot of people would imagine that Wayne is hanging out in clubs with a bunch of women and drinking champagne and that sort of thing. But I would say the main thing you learn when you watch the film is that Wayne is a workaholic. Straight up. After seeing this I think a lot of people will respect his process a lot more. We were with him like seven or eight months before he went platinum and then maybe two months after. That's the period we were shooting him for and I remember one day when he got a text from [Universal Motown President] Sylvia Rhone that he went platinum, he was like, 'O.K.' He didn't even flinch. He was 'O.K., cool' and 'get off my bus, I gotta record' His whole thing is he's like tireless worker and a lot of people will be very surprised how he's 100 percent dedicated to his craft...I really gained a lot of respect for him in that regard in terms of how he approaches his records and then how hard he works. I worked with Tupac a lot and I feel like he may end up with a bigger catalogue than Tupac if he hasn't already. That kid works, he's a hard worker, super focused and doesn't get caught up in the industry like that. He just stays in the studio all the time." (Hip Hop Wired)
Lil Wayne's previous request to stop the release of the QD3 Entertainment documentary was denied by a state court judge, who approved the film earlier this year.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael S. Mink denied Wayne's request for a preliminary injunction this week. QD3 executive Quincy Jones III said the ruling frees his company to seek distribution of the film. "We're very pleased with the court's decision," Jones said. "We made a great film, which was incredibly well received at Sundance, and showcases Lil Wayne's extraordinary talent." (Variety)
The Carter will be released on Tuesday, November 17th.
