Eminem Joins Jay-Z, Added To American Music Awards Performers

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has reportedly been added to this month's American Music Awards alongside other performers including Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.

Slim Shady's addition was confirmed Tuesday (November 3) morning.

Eminem will return to the stage at the forthcoming 37th Annual American Music Awards later this month. The Relapse star, who is also gearing up for the release of Relapse 2, joins an ever-growing list of talent taking the stage during the November 22 celebration of music. Eminem joins a previously announced roster of performers including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Adam Lambert, Jay Z, Daughtry, The Black Eyed Peas and Alicia Keys. Both Em and incarcerated rapper T.I. lead the rap nominee category.

Eminem has the most nominations of anyone in the hip hop world. Marshal Mathers is up for Artist of the Year (the only hip hop artist up for that award), Favorite Male Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Male Artist Pop/Hip Hop and Favorite Album Rap/Hip Hop. Newcomer T.I. follows next with three nominations. (Michigan Live)

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will hit the stage that night to perform "Empire State Of Mind."

Mark your calendars for Sunday, Nov. 22 on ABC: Superstar Jay Z and hubby-snatchin' songbird Alicia Keys are set to perform the chart-topping collabo "Empire State of Mind" at the 2009 American Music Awards next month. The duo performed the single -- featured on Hov's Blueprint 3 LP -- at the MTV VMAs last month, but irksome rapper Lil Mama crashed the stage during the performance. (Pop Crunch)

Em is also preparing the release of his new album, Relapse 2.

"[I'm] pretty much finished as far as recording," Eminem revealed in an interview last month. "I think all that's left to do is mix. And you know, in the mixing process, if I come up with anything else then [it will be on there.] I think it's gonna be a lot different, a lot different than what people expect as far as the contrast from the last record to this one, I think I went back...I got a couple of tracks with Mr. Porter, I got two tracks on the album with him so far, four, possibly five with Just Blaze and I think the overall basis of the record is -- it's more emotional driven. Like the last record, I was more concentrated on spitting, but with this record, I feel like there's some of that, but at the same time I went back to making songs with feels to them as opposed to just rap records...I'm putting everything I got into this next record. All my focus, just everything, I just want to finish that project and I'll take it from there." (Toca Tuesdays)

The American Music Awards is scheduled to be televised Sunday, November 22nd.
