50 Cent Puts Beanie Sigel/G-Unit Signing Talks On Hold, "We'll See What Happens"
50 Cent has died down recent hype surrounding speculation of Beanie Sigel signing with G-Unit Records and explained what it would take for the former Roc-A-Fella rapper to join his team.
According to Fif, talks have already gone underway with Beans, however, nothing has been confirmed.
"I had a meeting with him today," 50 said in . "First we gotta start with the music -- where's the music? Then we have to get into what it would take to bring him over to G-Unit as a record company. You can't sign a deal in a conversation -- it's a process. We'll see what happens. I would listen to what he has. His skills haven't diminished. Nine times out of 10, he'll have something workable already on deck. When you're dealing with artists who have been established longer than you, it's a process. You have to figure out exactly where they are at before you commit to being a part of those projects, because they have habits and they've been conditioned for something different. You have to figure out exactly what that is before you dive in." (MTV)
50 recently confirmed reports of trying to sign Beans around 2005.
"[Beanie Sigel] would have got at least $800,000 at that point to come over," 50 Cent told radio personality Miss Jones. "Jay was telling him that he didn't want to lose him. I think Jay and [Diddy] had these feelings toward me at one point I believe...Jay didn't want to do that." (Power 99 FM)
Sigel and 50 hinted at a joint venture during an interview earlier this week.
Sigel joined 50 towards the end of an on-air interview with "The Hot Boyz" Mikey Dredd and Uncle O, leading to a candid ten minute conversation. During the interview, 50 and Beans revealed that "Beans is coming to G-Unit," with no additional details as to how soon the new partnership might yield an album or single. (All Hip Hop)
Jay-Z recently responded to accusations made by Beans against him and Dame Dash.
"He has a lot to complain about," Jay jokingly said during a press conference. "Not me. Well Beanie Sigel at the time, and you can look it up if you like, just to be honest, was driving two Bentleys, I don't know how. It's impossible to drive two cars at one time with his mama in the sticks and selling 800,000 records. I don't know what more you can do for somebody at that point. What people choose to do when they attain that type of success, you know, at some point you have to look in the mirror and look at yourself. Beanie Sigel had a record deal, a record label, and a clothing line. And never went platinum, ever. I don't know in the history of rap has anyone done so much with so little. I don't know what more you can do for a person at that point. But a record deal, that's normal. A record label and a clothing line, so, if that's not pushing a person, sh*t. Thank-you."
