Kanye West Blasted At "Country Music Awards" Show, "Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Kanye"
Kanye West was mocked at this week's Country Music Awards as numerous performers took center stage to poke fun at the rapper's infamous VMA '09 incident with "Entertainer Of The Year" winner Taylor Swift.
The event's hosts, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, kicked off the taunts with a duet.
The singers took a swipe at the rapper when they opened the awards ceremony with the song, "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." "Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be Kanye," they sang. "Let 'em pick guitars and drive 'em ol' trucks. Cowboys have manners, they don't interrupt." (New York Daily News)
He was also mocked by country singer Little Jimmy Dickens.
Later on in the show, as Paisley began to talk about his video "Welcome To The Future," and thank the production team, 88 year-old country legend Little Jimmy Dickens walked out onstage and grabbed the mic. "Excuse me! Excuse me sir ... I'll let you finish later," Dickens said, "Now Brad Paisley, I know you had a nice video and all that, but Taylor Swift made the best video of all time!" (VIBE)
Taylor Swift added to the jokes by thanking the audience for not pulling a "Kanye."
"I want to thank every single person tonight for not running up on stage during my speech," Taylor said when accepting Female Vocalist of the Year title, poking at Kanye West for what he did on the stage of 2009 MTV VMAs. (Ace Showbiz)
She playfully teased Yeezy during her hosting slot of last week's "Saturday Night Live."
In her opening "Monologue Song (La, La, La)," SNL host Taylor Swift sang, "You might think I might say/something bad about Kanye/and how he ran up on the stage and ruined my VMA monologue/but there's nothing more to say/because everything's okay/I've got security lining the stage." Having finished the song, she announced, "We have a great show. Kanye West is not here." (Entertainment Weekly)
