Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger are determined to make their relationship work.
The couple - who recently reunited after splitting in early January due to work commitments - will not be together when the British racing driver takes part in the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix on March 12, the start of the Formula One season, but Lewis insists their careers will not force them apart.
He told the BBC: 'She’s away focusing on her album and she’s got a couple of pretty cool things coming up.
'If she can come and she surprises me then fantastic, but I know that she’s got work so maybe next time.
'You make it work, you do all you can, you know? When something is worth it, you do it.'
Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole recently devised a number of steps to make the reunited couple’s relationship work.
A source said: 'It was just before Valentine's Day (14.02.10) during a tearful heart-to-heart that they decided to give their relationship another go.
"Nicole agreed after laying down strict guidelines to put more romance into their relationship. One of those was that she didn't want any interruptions when they dine out, meaning Lewis agreed to leave his BlackBerry at home. They also thought it would be an idea not to read stories about each other."
Nicole’s group is currently undergoing an overhaul, with two members quitting the Pussycat Dolls in the last week.
Kimberly Wyatt left the band claiming she was no longer happy, while Ashley Roberts has decided to try her hand at acting and presenting.
