[Listen Below] From the phone interview it seems that just two years into her eight year jail stint, Remy is making the most out of her time in prison. After successfully appealing to be released from special lock-up so as to be placed into general population, Remy is just a few units away from an Associate’s degree and has remained on her best behavior so as not to jeopardize her scheduled conjugal visits with husband, Brooklyn MC Papoose. “When I first got here I was just of control, I was just disgusted to be here, so I got in trouble a lot but then when I realized that that was going to affect my trailer visits I had to start shaping up” she shared. Remy is allowed daily visits and conjugal visits once every six weeks. Although her husband and family have supported her, there is one person that still hasn’t checked in on the Grammy-nominat...

Lil Wayne won’t be going to jail just yet. Young Money President Mack Maine took to his twitter minutes ago to announce that the rap superstar’s sentencing date has been postponed. “Extension till march 2nd!!!!!” Maine just wrote on the social networking site. “Thanx for da prayers LOVE y’all…and Wayne said thanx for da prayers too..ym!!!” MTV News reports that the New Orleans-bred rapper’s jail date was delayed due to dental surgery. Wayne’s lawyer Stacey Richman told Judge Charles H. Solomon that Wayne is suffering from a cracked tooth. He is set to undergo surgery on February 12 and will need at least 10 days to recover. “I don’t want this to get pushed back anymore,” Solomon said. “This is the last adjournment.” As previously reported, Wayne was expected to be sentenced today in Manhattan criminal court and then begin serving his time. Lil Wayne’s Rebirth Sells 175K in First-Week Sales

Image
More good news for Lil Wayne. One day after learning that he won’t have to report to jail on gun charges until March, the New Orleans-bred rapper has sold close to 25,000 more copies of his new album, Rebirth, than expected. Last week industry insiders at hitsdailydouble.com projected Weezy to sell around 140,000 to 150,000 units based on first-day sales. Now the official Nielsen SoundScan numbers are in and Wayne has managed to rack up 175,600. He also earned himself a seat at the No. 2 spot on The Billboard 200. While the numbers aren’t as high as the rap superstar’s awe-inspiring one million tally from 2008’s Grammy award-winning Tha Carter III album, the estimation is still pretty impressive considering the setbacks that Rebirth faced. Along with being plagued with countless push backs, the disc leaked to the ‘Net months before its official release. Not to mention the fact that the project is experimental in nature, with Wayne trying his hand at the hard rock genre on many tracks. ...

Lil Wayne’s Feature Film Debut Goes Straight-to-DVD

There’s good and bad news for fans waiting to see Lil Wayne in his feature film debut, Hurricane Season. The bad news is that the film, originally set for theatrical release in 2009 won’t hit theaters at all. The good news, though, is that the wait is over. The film has been slated for a straight-to-DVD release and will be available for purchase as soon as tomorrow (Feb. 9). Starring Forest Whitaker, Isaiah Washington, Taraji P. Henson, and fellow Young Money rapper Bow Wow, the drama is based on a true story about rival high school basketball players from five different schools who came together as one team in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The movie follows the players and their coach (played by Whitaker) from before the disaster and all the way to their road to the state championships. Filmed between April and June 2008 in Weezy’s hometown of New Orleans, Hurricane Season has seen its theatrical release date postponed numerous times due to the financial troubles of the film’s d...

Lil Wayne is Not Getting Grill Removed, Says Lawyer

Image
Many speculated that Lil Wayne would be getting his diamond grill removed before going behind bars for gun charges, yet the rap superstar’s lawyer assures fans that is not the case. In an interview with New York Magazine, Wayne’s defense attorney, Stacey Richman, said that the rapper’s signature grills will indeed stay intact. While MTV News reported that the New Orleans-bred MC’s sentence date and jail term would be postponed due to dental surgery for a cracked tooth, Richman is unaware what the exact procedure is. When asked why the surgery wasn’t done before the February 9 court date, Richman said Weezy’s dentist had to go on a last-minute charity mission to Nicaragua. The Young Money general is now expected to get sentenced on March 2. As previously reported, Birdman, Jr. was arrested in July 2007, following a concert at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre. After smelling marijuana coming from Wayne’s tour bus, officers pulled the vehicle over and allegedly found a .40 caliber semi-automati...
